BETA v1.2 Update!

Here is a video I made about 15 minuets after the update was released. It’s a first look into all the new things that got added into the update.

Here is a list of all the new things add:

Note Blocks (right click to tune, trigger to play)
15 wool dyes
A new water dwelling mob (Octopus)
New tree types (Birch, Pine)
Reeds magically turned into sugar canes. They still make paper.
A bunch of new crafting recipes
One secret useful block (Dispenser)
One secret pretty block (Sandstone block)
Cake
Sugar - Crafted from Sugar Cane
Default furnaces given new look
Bones added on drops (possibly only skeletons)
Bones can be crafted into Bonemeal.
New gray, light gray, and black sheep. Drop correspondingly colored wool.
Tools made out of stone are more durable.
Bugfixes:
Paintings work in multiplayer
Disconnecting while riding no longer keeps the player in the world
A bunch more state is properly synched in multiplayer
Fixed colors going weird on PowerPC
Fixed a horrible chunk reload loop in singleplayer
Fixed most lighting bugs in newly generated SMP maps
Falling sand behaves better in SMP
Fixed a few crash on load level bugs
Jack-O-Lantern now has correct tooltip.

SMP fun n’ Glitches

I’ve been playing on my MC server a bunch lately and I just thought I would share the gnarly stuff I have built and seen (over the past 2 days… haha)

Reed Farm

Awesome 3 story reed farm I built… I  am going to have a lot of books…

Cactus farm

My amazing automatic floating cactus farm. The farmed cactus go through a tunnel and land at a collection point in my house. Pretty awesome.

And the Glitches.. haha

Inside of a non-mobile glitching creeper. I guess they really don’t have any brains.

CREEPER FACE

Floating Pig 2

Floating pig

And my favorite, the invincible-flying-super-pig!

Hope you liked it!

Highlights

Here’s some pretty awesome stuff built/made by some random people. I especially like the interplanetary railway. Lots of hard work went into that.

Mobile Minecraft?

There has been a fair amount of discussion on this topic on the Minecraft  Forums, but I just saw something that was a huge step forward. This video is like a “Test version” of a mobile version of minecraft. This is version is not developed by Mahjong or Notch. It is just a test to see if it is plausible.

This picture on the other was just tweeted by Notch. His caption was “There we go, at a blazing 15-20 fps” So we can assume its going well. I have no clue when it will be released and the only non desktop system it will be released on is most likely android. All we can do is wait and hope. and save up for an android phone….

Flying Horses, OH MY!

Yesterday I was watching a couple YouTube videos and two of my favorite video game commentators (Pbat & Slyfox all day)  had installed this mod called Mo' Creatures into there game. Now I haven't used mods very much because there still kind of sketchy IMO, if your not careful all your worlds and progress can easily be erased when the game gets updated (Thanks Notch..), but after watching a couple videos I just had to try it. What the mod does is, it adds a BUNCH of new content  to the game, mostly animals and such. The biggest thing it adds is ride able horses. You can get anything from normal boring brown horses, to awesome Unicorns and Pegasus’s that can fly! It is truly awesome to be able to fly from one house to another in mere seconds. It also adds a lot of new monsters and if you want you can even install a werewolf that during the day walks around looking like a hobo and cries “Help me please” and at night he transforms into a giant wolf like creature that can only be killed by gold tools (its like minecraft silver). I really like this mod and I defiantly think that Notch should add this or something like it into the future updates of the official game. Here are some screenshots I took today. If you like what you see you should deffinatly log into the forums and show this guy some support. One of my favorite mods by far….

The Big 1 Mill. and Updates

Now most of you probably know that Minecraft has almost sold 1 million copies. This is a very large number, if you compare that WoW has sold almost 9 million copies since the vanilla release. Minecraft was released in May 2009, so it has been out for just over a year and already sold almost a ninth as many copies as WoW. What makes this such a big accomplishment is the game has just barely made the switch to Beta and there aren't any box versions available, this is a very large accomplishment or an indie game that is not even in its final stages of development. Notch said in his blog (Word of notch) that he and his team “Don’t even know how to celebrate it”. One of the things I’m most excited about is the announcement that Notch made about there next update that they are going to release. It might include “A water mob and quite possibly Paint”, this last idea excites me, because one of the things that I’ve wanted added to the game most is more design features and different colors would add so much originality and innovative to peoples builds it would be very interesting to see. In a recent tweet Notch said that the next update will focus on save file format, followed immediately by modding. So we just have to wait and see what we are in for for upcoming updates.

Welcome

Hello everyone who is viewing this. My name is Colter Lammey and I am making this blog for a few reasons. 1- I was looking for Minecraft blogs the other day, to read up on the latest news or anything really, and I couldn’t help noticing that “hey wow. All of these blogs last updates are about the Halloween update” so I decided this might be a good project to do. I have other reasons, like I need practice writing and what better way to do then write about something you enjoy? My final reason is, I love Minecraft. It is probably one of the BEST PC games I have ever played <3. Well enough of that lets get down to the goals I have for this, I want to make a place that will update regularly on all the latest news and special features about this game. Not only that though, I want to make a website that will be about the community as well. What I mean is posting peoples builds that they submit, maybe some interviews with popular people in the community and much more. We will just have to see where this goes. Now if you would like to support this you can give me suggestions on what I could do, or site designing tips or you could send in a video/screen shots of something Minecraft related (to ColterBlogCraft@gmail.com )  and I can see about posting it up.

  -Thank you
